CIO job description and dutiesThe job responsibilities of a Chief Information Officer varies from industry to industry and organization to organization. The role of a Chief Information Officer in an organization may be entirely different as compared to the roles and responsibilities of a Chief Information Officer in a different organization. The CIO needs to develop and maintain department aims and goals along with managing the entire IT staff. Strategizing, developing and maintaining the operations and systems in the IT department is the role of the CIO. CIO is the one responsible for developing IT policies so that there is the only use of proper practices to achieve the desired goal by increasing productivity and efficiently utilizing the resources to the best of its ability. The Chief Information Officer also needs to report and explain to his superiors i.e the board of directors and other executives about the benefits and risks related to the already implemented or to be implemented IT-related projects.
