ANIMALS OF INDIA
COW
Cows are the most common animals which we see in India. We see them mostly seen in rural areas and urban areas to some extent. They are herbivores animals and usually eat grass and fodder. They are mostly used for milk, meat, and farming. Its milk is healthy for our health. India is also the world. India has huge dairy sector .They are also used as riding animals in rural areas where people cant afford to buy expensive vehicles. Their manure is also very useful which is used in creating manure and fuel. The hides of cows are used to make leather from which items such as shoes, bags, belts, and purses are made. In many parts of India, cows hold religious significance. There are also strict rules implemented against cow slaughter and smuggling in many parts of India.
GOAT
Goats are common animals that we see in rural and urban areas. There are around 300 breeds of goats. They are mostly used for fur, milk, meat, and skin across the globe. Many people in rural areas also use goats as cattle as they are cheaper to manage and they mostly eat grass, leaves, and thorns. It is also useful from the medical and industrial points of view. The intestines of the goats are useful in making catguts from which musical instruments and human surgical sutures are made. The horns of the goats are also used to make spoons. Goat milk is expensive than cow milk as they produce less milk as compared to cows. Its milk is also used in skincare products such as lotions, moisturizers, soaps, and also supplements. The average life expectancy of goats is between 15-18 years. Some
people also choose goats as their pets because of their good relationship with their owners.
TIGER
The tiger is a carnivorous animal and is the largest living cat species. It is also an apex predator and is important for our ecosystem. It is the national animal of India. The population of tigers has reduced drastically from the last century. Currently, around 3900 tigers are left globally. In the wild, the tigers can survive up to 15 years. They are mostly hunted for its tooth and skin. The smugglers sell their skin and tooth on the black market at extremely high prices. Its parts are also used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. Tiger bones are used to treat ulcers, malaria, typhoid, and also rheumatism. Its whiskers are used as protective charms or used to soothe toothaches. Many local and international movies are made on tigers every year. In the circus, they are trained by the trainer to perform stunts and entertain people. Tigers mostly show violent behaviour when someone tries to harm them or their cubs.
ELEPHANT
The Elephant is a herbivore's animal and it is the largest existing land animal. The three main species of elephants are the African forest elephant, Asian Elephant, and the African forest element. Its trunk is useful for breathing and grasping objects. They use their tusks as tools and weapons for digging and moving objects. Their ear flaps help them in maintaining their body temperature and for communication. They mostly prefer to stay near the places where water is accessible. In historic times they played an important role in wars. They were trained well to attack the enemy soldiers and kill them. These animals are poached for their ivory tusks. These tusks have a great value in the black market. Many national and international laws are made to protect these animals from exploitation by humans. They are also hunted for their meat and hides. Their conflicts with humans mostly lead to the loss of life and property. The protection of wildlife corridors is important for the survival and growth of these species.
HORSE
The Horse is a domesticated herbivores animal. The female horse is called a mare and the young horse is called a foal. They reach their adult age by the age of 5. The horses have a life expectancy of 25-30 years. There are more than 300 breeds of horses available in this world. They can run very quickly and hence they play an important role in sports such as horse riding. They were historically used in wars by soldiers because of their swiftness and ability to run fast. They are also used in sports competitions and activities such as agriculture, entertainment, police work, and therapy. They need proper attention and care. It provides many products like hair, bone, meat, and milk. From the urine of pregnant mares many medicines are made. They also play an important role in transportation in rural or less developed areas. The horses are also used by policemen for patrolling duties in some parts of the world. They also play an important role in movies and films as they have a good relationship with humans.
