1. Before a girl child is born also some people try to destroy her.

These are the stages here in women's life where crime takes place and they become a victim.
Stage 1: Feticide and infanticide: Foeticide is the process of finding out the sex of the fetus and if it’s a girl child it’s aborted. It is illegal but especially in India many practices it. In infanticide, the girl child is killed once she is born.
Stage 2: School-going age: Many girls are also not preferred for studies if they have boys in their family. 
They are mostly preferred. Girls are not given access to basic education. They suffer discrimination at the hands of parents and teachers. 
Stage 3 : Adolescence: They become victims of sexual abuse, violence and exploitation, acid attacks, rape, early marriages.
Stage 4 : Marriage: Many women are tortured emotionally and physically by their husbands and in-laws for dowry or other reasons.
Stage 5 : Motherhood: Women are not provided with proper care medically during their pregnancy. She is often forced to abort a female fetus.
Stage 6: Workplace: Often women suffer from unequal pay of work, exploitation, economic and emotional abuse, lack of promotion despite merit. 
These are some crimes that happen mostly in India : 


Sexual Harassment at Workplace:
Act was passed in 2013 regarding this. Its main objective is to protect women in the workplace. Sexual harassment is when one person forces another person to an unwelcome act of physical intimacy like touching, grabbing, even teasing, shows a person any offensive sexually explicit visual material, in the form of screen savers, cartoons/pinups/pictures, etc. This act was introduced by the Supreme Court of 
India. The act covers students in colleges, schools, employers, patience in hospitals, etc. Local authorities will check-up will all complaints. Any woman can write a complaint to local authorities within 
3 months from the date of the Incident. The victim can also file a complaint with police under Indian 
Code 1860 under sections 354, 354A, 294, 509.


2. Acid Attack : 
It is a form of violent assault defined as the act of throwing acid or any similar corrosive substance on the body with the intention to torture, I’m, disfigure or kill that victim. Perpetrators of these attacks throw acid at their victims, usually on faces, damaging s. The long-term consequences of this attack may include permanent scarring of the face and body as well as permanent scarring along with far-reaching  psychological, economic or social difficulties. Section 326A and section 326B of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 provide the punishment for causing grievous hurt by use of acid and attack. Section 100 of the Indian Penal Code allows the right of defense or there is an attempt of throwing acid. 


Rape : 
Rape is one of the most heinous crimes committed against women in our society. It is known to be the fourth most common crime that takes place in India. It is an act that is forced by men onto women. It’s intercourse without consent. A rape victim can file an FIR under Sections of the 
Indian Penal Code.
1) 376 – Punishment for Rape 
2) 376 A – Punishment for causing the death of the victim.
3) 376B – Sexual Intercourse by husband on wife during separation. 
4) 376C – Sexual Intercourse by the person in Authority 
5) 376D – Gang Rape 


Domestic Violence : 
Domestic violence is when a women’s husband or husband's side relative's abuse or try to hurt her physically. It is when one adult in a relationship misuses power. The violence may involve threats, sexual  assault, and abuse. At times it is more worst, such as not letting them leave them, making them feel worthless, not letting them have any money. The complaint can be filed under Section 498A for cruelty by husband or relatives with a demand for dowry. 


Obscenity and Pornography : 
It is visual material containing an explicit display of sexual organs or activity, intended to stimulate sexual excitement. Pornography may come in different forms like media, including magazines, books, videos, websites, etc. Many women are forced into this unknowingly and they get trapped. They are various provisions for women’s safety : 
1) Sections 509, 354, 354A, 354B, 354C, 292, 293, 294 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 .
2) Sections 66E, 67, 67A, 67B of IT ACT, 2000
3) Section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women Act.


3. Cruelty / Dowry demand : 
Dowry is a payment, such as money or property paid by the bride's family to the groom's family as a condition for marriage. In many cases, these dowry cases lead to crime. It may cause any physical abuse or even death in some cases. Women are made to go through torture for an extra demand of money or expensive items from their family side. It is a social evil in society that has polluted the Indian Martial system. We have dowry Prohibition Act, according to that act which will cause imprisonment for a term which shall be at least 6 months which may extend to 2 years and more
